How to take a screenshot on my iPhone?

Hello guys,

So I just got myself an iPhone Pro Max a few days ago—coming from years of using Android—and honestly, I’m a bit lost on some of the basics. One thing that’s really tripping me up is how to take a screenshot.

I’ve tried pressing the volume and side buttons together (I think?), but it only works half the time. Other times, nothing happens at all. Maybe I’m not pressing them right? Or maybe there’s a setting I messed up?

I know it probably sounds like a dumb question, but I’d seriously appreciate it if someone could walk me through it, step by step, like I’m totally new to iPhones—because I am.
